Data Migration

We’ve started a data migration but failed to finish it. Would we be able to use the work we have already done?

Possibly, sometimes it is just easier to start from scratch but it would be dependent on

  • quality of the data
  • how it has been extracted (if at all)
  • have all legacy sources been accounted for
  • are the subject matter experts / data analysts still available
We desperately need to finish the data migration by x date, can you help us?

Our toolsets let us plan and schedule projects to hit deadlines when needed, however sometimes a schedule is just too tight. Contact us for a free consultation where we will be able to give you a better answer.

What success rate do you have for finishing a data migration on budget and on time?

Currently we have 100% success rate

How much time would my business need to allocate to helping DataMC with the migration?

In order to complete a data migration successfully we will need the help and support of our clients throughout. The SME’s (Subject Matter Experts) will play a big roll in making the migration a success, as will the data owners who will need to be

  • helping to get the data from legacy systems
  • checking the data quality
  • signing it off at several stages in the migration

This is one area a lot of migrations fall down in, communication between ourselves and our client is essential, and without the client being prepared to support us, the migration is doomed to failure.

We would like to use your company for a migration but are located in a different state / country, would you be able to help us?

We have offices in Australia, New Zealand and Europe with near 24 hour coverage and work with clients all over the world We would be able to help you.

How would you be able to do a data migration if you aren’t in the same country as we are?

We can easily set up virtual environments for all of the processes to take place in during a migration, this lets us work as though we have a connection to your servers. We will have daily videoconferencing to keep everything on track and our toolset will track everything and keep the project on schedule

What about the time difference, how would we be able to communicate effectively?

We have employees spread over several different time zones, we are used to unusual work hours and will fit in with your work day

How long will the whole process take?

It will vary depending on

  • Legacy systems, how many and how the data is stored
  • the clients knowledge of the legacy systems (do they have Subject Matter Experts?)
  • the amount of data
  • what the target system is
  • data quality

It can be anything from a few months to a year or more, book in for a free consultation and we will be able to give you a better idea

How much will it cost?

You would need to book in for a free consultation, it depends on a lot of factors, similar to this question

We have some data in databases, some in spreadsheets and even some as paper records, will this be a problem?

Although this can add to the time taken in the initial steps of a migration, this should not be a problem

Do you have a guide I could use to decipher data migration speak?

Indeed we do, check out our Abbreviations and Definitions guide

I’m a tech wizard / marketing guru / web dude, do you have any work?
