What is DM REVOLVE?

Data Migration Revolution Evolution

DM REVOLVE is DataMC’s proprietary data migration toolset, powered by BIDM methodology and refined over decades of complex delivery work.

Overview

The DM REVOLVE toolset

In short, DM REVOLVE is DataMC’s ground-breaking proprietary data migration toolset. It is powered by BIDM methodology, developed over decades by industry experts, and used on every DataMC engagement.

Clients work alongside DataMC consultants while experiencing the full use of the tools, giving them greater visibility, stronger control and more confidence through the migration lifecycle.

Below is a breakdown of some of the DM REVOLVE tools used by DataMC and its clients.

  • Purpose-built migration capability
  • Powered by BIDM methodology
  • Used across every engagement
  • Designed for practical delivery visibility

DM REVOLVE

A practical toolset used to support planning, execution, verification and delivery control across complex data migrations.

Why it matters

It gives business and delivery teams a clearer way to understand the migration, see what is happening, and work through complexity with less stress.

TAP-DataMigration
TAP – Toolkit Access Portal

The control hub of DM REVOLVE, TAP houses all of our toolsets

WOM – Workflow-O-Matic
POM – Profile-O-Matic
MOM – Map-O-Matic
ROM – Report-O-Matic
TOM – Translate-O-Matic
FOG – File-O-Gen

Workflow-O-Matic (WOM)
Workflow-O-Matic (WOM)

WOM is the gatekeeper of DM REVOLVE. Through the WOM interface every part of our 15 step data migration is

Tracked
Reported on
Updated
Signed off

Problems can be spotted quickly. Tracking shows the history of objects throughout the project. Relevant parties are informed when objects reach each stage of the process. WOM makes the process transparent, and accountable.

Profile-O-Matic (POM)
Profile-O-Matic (POM)

POM – selection criteria from the legacy source is used to obtain the data set, this is used to create the data objects. The following information for each object is recorded here

Data source and table names
The SQL selections
Description of the object
Any other notes

Once the data has been extracted, the data owner checks it against the expected data set, then signs off to progress to the next stage.

Map-O-Matic (MOM)
Map-O-Matic (MOM)

MOM takes the selection criteria and performs mapping from source to target fields. Required translations & data quality checks are identified along with any data quality issues. Once mapping has been completed it is submitted for

Review
Approval (on to the next stage)
Refinement (goes through the MOM cycle again)

Report-O-Matic (ROM)
Report-O-Matic (ROM)

The ROM is a verification and data quality tool used for showing

Number of records
Data quality of the objects

Each object is given a breakdown, reports are generated for

Errors and the number of fields affected
Any exception encountered along with the severity
Individual errors for each record and field if needed
Refreshed nightly to show the latest view of the data

Translate-O-Matic (TOM)
Translate-O-Matic (TOM)

TOM empowers the data owners to ensure all translations are completed and correct. This is an important step in improving data quality and ensuring a seamless migration.

All the data translations take place in TOM and are tracked and updated. If you need legacy fields updating from say Red to R, and Blue to B then this is the place to do it. All results can be easily exported and checked over if needed.

TOM is also the place to perform inflight data duplication cleansing.

File-O-Gen (FOG)
File-O-Gen (FOG)

File-O-Gen generates load files from stored model tables, these are ready for import into the target system. Once generated the loads can be tested daily, this leads to

Fast generation of structured files
Catching and correcting errors BEFORE loading the data
Repetition of the load
Automation and predictability
