Key challenges:
Asset Attributes
in CiA, assets and their attributes are configured in such a way that make them dynamically customisable through a series of templates and user-defined fields. This presents a challenge when mapping and translating legacy data into these customisable objects, which would normally require a large number of source queries and mappings to match all possible target formats. To solve this problem, a dynamic custom mappable solution was developed making use of existing DMREVOLVE tools. The solution essentially used part of the standard translation process to replace the standard mapping process, allowing source data to be dynamically mapped to target data on an asset class, asset type, asset attribute type, or in some cases down to more granular attribute values. The result was a successful migration of 513,000 attributes across 54,000 assets.
Project Followup – Testimonial
I just wanted to take this opportunity to provide some feedback on Craig. We have all been very impressed with his technical skills and how quickly he has understood our data and helped the team to build the migration process. But equally, his calm demeanour and ability to simplify complex problems has been key to us. When the team has been nervous Craig has been able to quickly provide options. When we have been pushed for time Craig has put in the extra hours to keep us on track.
I’ve completed a lot of projects in my career and this is the first time where we have outsourced data migration. The experience has been such a positive one that I will definitely be keeping this as an option going forward.
Regards
Tony
